Furnishing a Second Home in Crested Butte

Your sofa is arriving Tuesday. You’re three states away.

Ordering furniture for your Crested Butte home is easy enough to do from anywhere. Being there when it arrives is another story.

The sofa delivery requires a signature. The dining table ships separately from the chairs. The bed arrives in six boxes, and assembly isn’t included. Suddenly, you’re considering a trip to Colorado to let someone through the front door.

A tracking number isn’t a plan

When you’re furnishing a home from afar, every purchase comes with questions beyond whether it fits the room.

Who will accept it? Will they bring it upstairs? Where will it go until your next visit? And if you open the box six weeks later and find damage, will you still be within the claim window?

Multiply that by bedrooms, living spaces, and a dining room, and you’ve given yourself a fairly substantial remote project management job.

Before ordering, confirm what each vendor’s delivery service includes, whether a commercial receiver is required, and who will inspect your furniture when it arrives. These details affect both your budget and your timeline.

Your first weekend back shouldn’t be spent assembling furniture

You picture arriving, dropping your bags, and settling in. But someone still needs to put the beds together, move the sofa into place, hang the artwork, and deal with the cardboard.

Those tasks can easily fill the weekend you were hoping to spend skiing, hiking, or having friends over.

Choosing furniture remotely has its own challenges, too. Listing photos and a floor plan can only tell you so much. Before committing to larger pieces, have someone verify measurements, doorways, stairs, and the space needed to move comfortably around the furniture.

It helps to have someone here

A-Frame Studio provides local furnishing support for homeowners in Crested Butte and the Gunnison Valley.

We get to know your home, help select pieces that suit your space and budget, and coordinate what happens after you approve them: ordering, tracking, receiving, delivery, installation, and final styling.

Receiving and storage allow us to gather furniture from different vendors before a coordinated installation. And if a piece is delayed, we can discuss an alternative or arrange to add it later, without asking you to schedule another trip.

The goal is to make your time here feel like time at home, starting when you walk through the door.
